Maryland Student Researchers Program

The Maryland Student Researchers Program provides an opportunity for all students to work with faculty mentors on ongoing research projects, some of which have environmental implications. Students new to research as well as students with previous research experience have found this to be a valuable and rewarding experience. There is no particular GPA required; what you need is motivation to learn and a responsible attitude. If you are interested in participating, go to the Maryland Center for Undergraduate Research, 2100D McKeldin Library for more information.

Departmental Honors Programs

Departmental/College Honors Programs are available for all qualified undergraduates. While admission procedures may vary, most set GPA requirements, upper level course requirements, and in-depth research. Honors projects often take 3 semesters to complete, so speak with your academic advisor ASAP if this is something you would like to pursue.

REU: Research Experiences for Undergraduates

REUs are excellent opportunities for highly qualified students (3.5+ GPA) who want to explore a career in research. Typically, each site selects 10-15 students from across the country; and provides housing, social activities, and a $3,500+ stipend. See the ENSP Internships page for a sampling of what's available; see the full REU Program list HERE!
